Waterfall digital painting studies
Below are a few small waterfall studies. software: photoshop Still looking for something a bit edgier – so often waterfalls are portrayed very softly but there’s definitely an intensity to a huge amount of water rushing and tumbling over an edge. Have a favorite? I’d love to do one of these 5 feet tall.
Atlas + Axis Joint
Below is a study of the atlas/axis (c1 and c2 vertebrae) joint from multiple angles, minimally laid out. Blender, ZBrush, Photoshop, InDesign.
Zbrush vertebrae render experiments
Did some playing in zbrush today with a couple of vertebra models – C1 and C2. Lighting, mixing material colors, trying out the material mixer, and finally compositing different render passes in Photoshop! Software used: Blender, Zbrush, Photoshop. This also means that I now have the c2 model and I’m going to have to offer… Continue reading Zbrush vertebrae render experiments

As an aside, during my research, I’ve found that the ‘myth’ of the jackalope may have derived from bunnies sighted with Shope Papilloma Virus . It’s a virus that… Continue reading Jackalope Zbrush Sculpture in progress

Shapeways is doing a feature on hearts right now – and if you go to their homepage, there’s a good chance the heart ring pendant will show up! (seems to rotate through a variety of items). Very cool!
Sneak peak – fungi & mushroom jewelry
In the works has been a fun series of fungi and mushroom jewelry! Here are a couple of preview renders below. I’ve just ordered some test prints for both pendants & earrings and can’t wait to see how they turn out! Marasmiellus Mushrooms: Oyster Mushrooms:
Beautifully polished Red Blood Cell pendant
Typically I use 3D printing to manufacture my original jewelry/3D designs, but I’d been having inconsistent results with polished sterling silver. To be perfectly honest, even the most polished pieces had some very subtle grain evident. I’m sure in time that will change; right now it’s just evidence of the limits of the current technology… Continue reading Beautifully polished Red Blood Cell pendant
